Sweden Joins NATO’s Emerging War Against Russia

OffGuardian

by Eric Zuesse

Sweden, which historically has been a ‘neutral’ country between the U.S. and Russia, is joining the NATO buildup against Russia, allowing NATO to place nuclear weapons in Sweden for an attack against Russia, and, like NATO (of which Sweden isn’t a member) lying about it to their people, and to the world.

The alleged reason for joining the operation is that “Russian aggression against Ukraine breaches international law and challenges the European security order”, according to Sweden’s ‘defence’ minister Peter Hultqvist. He denied nuclear weapons would be part of it.

He also said, “I have sometimes wondered if there has been deliberate disinformation” by opponents of the proposal. (Let him call this report such ‘disinformation’, because I’m going to link here to solid sources that expose his and ‘The West’s’ other vicious lies leading straight to World War III.)

This is being done by Sweden…

Syria: French Academic Exposes Left-Wing Charlatans as Harbingers of Terrorism

The Wall Will Fall

Arret Sur Info

Following the death of a prominent leader of the arab-lebanese resistance, murdered by the Zionist forces while on Syrian soil, I address this open letter to all left-wing  intellectuals and activists who have aligned themselves with the Syrian “revolution” and believe that by dreaming of the fall of Damascus, they are defending the Palestinian cause.

In the spring of 2011, you were telling us that the Arab revolutions represented an unprecedented hope for the peoples living under oppressive, bloodthirsty tyrants.  Our excessive optimism persuaded us to listen to your arguments for this miraculously flourishing democracy and your proclamations on the universal human rights.

You almost persuaded us that these popular uprisings deposing the Tunisian and Egyptian dictators were going to universally sweep tyranny from the arab world, in Libya as in Syria, in Yemen as in Bahrain and who knows where else.

Erdogan To Lead NATO Challenge Against Russia on Black Sea?

OffGuardian

May 18, 2016 (EIRNS)

While attention has been focused on NATO provocations in the Baltic, the Black Sea — thanks to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan — could become the next hotspot in the encirclement of Russia.  Hurriyet Daily News commentator Serkan Demirtas writes that Erdogan will now take over Turkish foreign policy, and make the Black Sea a new focus of attention.

Demirtas warns that Erdogan is making a radical departure from Turkey’s historically cautious policy regarding the Black Sea, which is based on the 1937 Montreux Convention. The Convention gives all countries access through the Bosporus Straits, but bans passage to aircraft carriers from non-Black Sea states, thus keeping U.S. carriers out. Turkey has also traditionally assured the U.S. Navy kept a low profile in the region.

Erdogan is currently changing this policy. Demirtas refers to a speech Erdogan made last week at a meeting of visiting chiefs…

The EU and the Deforestation of Ukraine

OffGuardian

by Dmytryi Kovalevich

Since 2014 we have in Ukraine a mass deforestation. The entire forests and parks are being eliminated, causing local environmental disasters. However, until now the logging has been mostly illegal. But now the EU is demanding from Ukraine to lift the ban on exporting timber/wood as a condition of obtaining the next EU macrofinancial aid (1.2 billion euro), reminding Kiev that this is a term of the Euroassociation agreement, – reports Ukrainian Minister of economic development and trade.

Currently, even the polluted radioactive forests of the Chernobyl zone are being cut: “But logging in a post-apocalyptic forest would pose a number of health concerns. Trees, like moss, absorb radiation from the subsoil. Also, clear-cutting churns up soil, stirring radioactive dust and accelerating erosion,” reports New York Times.

Not to mention the Carpathians, which have turned into ‘devastated lands’ in the two years since Maidan.   “The…

Valentina Lisitsa: “They have threatened me many times…”

SLAVYANGRAD.org

Original: Komsomolskaya Pravda
Translated by Alexander Fedotov / Edited by Elena

Special correspondents of KP [Russian newspaper ‘Komsomolskaya Pravda’ -trans.] Alexander Kots (AK) and Dmitry Steshin (DS) spoke with the famous pianist before her concert in Donetsk.

01

Classical pianist Valentina Lisitsa is not just loved in the Donbass, she is worshipped. And not only for her professional qualities, but for her position which she persistently, not in a western way, stands for. Her support of the Donbass caused her many serious scandals, broke relationships with friends and colleagues both in the Ukraine, where she comes from, and in Europe. She, despite risking to become a ‘persona non grata’ in her professional circles, comes again and again to perform in the war-torn land. Tickets to her concerts sold out in a few hours. Before her performance in Donetsk we [AK & DS -trans.] popped in…

CIA: Undermining and Nazifying Ukraine Since 1953

OffGuardian

by Wayne Madsen, via Strategic Culture

The recent declassification of over 3800 documents by the Central Intelligence Agency provides detailed proof that since 1953 the CIA operated two major programs intent on not only destabilizing Ukraine but Nazifying it with followers of the World War II Ukrainian Nazi leader Stepan Bandera.

The CIA programs spanned some four decades.  Starting as a paramilitary operation that provided funding and equipment for such anti-Soviet Ukrainian resistance groups as the Ukrainian Supreme Liberation Council (UHVR); its affiliates, the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), all Nazi Banderists. The CIA also provided support to a relatively anti-Bandera faction of the UHVR, the ZP-UHVR, a foreign-based virtual branch of the CIA and British MI-6 intelligence services. The early CIA operation to destabilize Ukraine, using exile Ukrainian agents in the West who were infiltrated into Soviet Ukraine, was codenamed Project AERODYNAMIC.

OffGuardian

On April 19, 1775 the shot(s) heard round the world began the American War of Independence. But who fired them? And why? The traditional story will be familiar to most, but in this video James Corbett talks to James Perloff of JamesPerloff.com about what he claims is the hidden history and context of the Battle of Lexington and Concord, the players who set up the plot, and the plan to engineer a “Lexington Massacre” that could sell war to the Continental Congress.
